The first phase of preliminary matches successfully got underway the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom youth tournament’s second edition in Nyanza West and Nyanza South in the weekend ended Sunday, November 18, 2018.
The region’s champions in the first edition, Ombek Red Devils, confirmed their place in next stage after seeing off a hard fighting Oyugis Dreams 1-0 at the Kosele Stadium on Saturday.
Their girls’ counterparts, Ombek Ladies, also made it to the next phase after edging out Aolo Girls, Barasa Ladies at the Simbiri Primary on Sunday.
Omobera Girls who qualified for the Nyanza regional finals in the first edition also made it through to the next round after beating Nyaore Ladies at Tendereti on Sunday.
The second phase of the preliminary matches will be played on Saturday, November 24, and Sunday, November 25, 2018, across different venues.
On the same weekend, the first phase will kick off in Nyanza North were up to 85 matches have been lined up across 24 venues in Kisumu, Nyando, Siaya and Bondo sub-branches.
