The Kenya U23 National Team is out of contention for a place in the 2020 Summer Olympics.
This is following a 0-0 draw against Sudan in the second leg of their Olympics Qualifier played on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at the MISC Kasarani.
Kenya had fallen 2-0 in the first leg played on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in Sudan and needed three unanswered goals to make it to the third qualification round.
This didn’t happen as the Emerging Stars were victims of a myriad of missed chances: Pistone Mutamba, Ibrahim Shambi and Ovella Ochieng the main culprits.
The guests would defend resolutely and in the end came out with a draw, much to the hosts’ disappointment.
Kenya had in the first round strolled past Mauritius, but has missed a chance to grace the Africa U23 Cup of Nations, set to be held in Egypt in November 2019. The tourney will act as a qualifier to the 2020 Summer Olympics set to be held in Japan.
