The Kenya U17 national team has on Wednesday, December 2, 2020, entered its tenth day of residential training ahead of the CECAFA U17 Championships in Kigali, Rwanda.
Today, to enhance their preparation for their regional showpiece they had a friendly match against Betika National Super league side, Kibera Black Stars at the GEMS Cambridge School grounds.
“Today, the boys have met the seniors Kibera Black Stars and have put up a strong performance. Other than a few mistakes that we need to work on, I’m generally happy with their performance,” said Coach Oliver Page.
Earlier on the Kenya U17 selection committee led by the coach went across the country to search for new talent to merge with the current team for the CECAFA tournament that will run from December 13 to December 28, 2020.
” I am happy with the team we selected as they show promise and dedication which are key factors to help steer the team to achieve a positive result in the CECAFA U17 Championships,” added Coach Page.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan was conducted on Monday, November 30, 2020, on all the players to ascertain the players’ age as required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to ensure fairness in the tournament.
