Vihiga Queens have been crowned the CAF Women Champions League CECAFA qualifiers champions after beating Ethiopia’s CBE FC 2-1 on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the MISC Kasarani.
Jentrix Shikangwa opened the scores for Vihiga Queens in the 27th minute that saw Vihiga Queens hold on to the lead until the half-time whistle that closed the scores at 1-0.
After the intermission, a mishap by Vihiga Queens defender Vivian Nasaka who in an effort at clearing the dangerous attempt from the Ethiopian side, headed it in, equalizing the scores.
During the four minutes of added time, a foul was committed on Violet Wanyonyi by CBE’s Tarikwa Yakura, leading to Vihiga Queens being awarded a penalty, which Jentrix Shikangwa converted to seal the full-time scores at 2-1.
The win has earned Vihiga Queens a ticket to the continental CAF Women Champions league that will be hosted by Egypt in November
