Vihiga Queens’ powerful slogan, “Legacy Makers,” truly embodies the team’s winning DNA recording a four-time league champions winning history.
Throughout the season, the competition was intense, filled with excitement and high-caliber matches. However, Vihiga Queens remained steadfast in their pursuit of reclaiming the title from the previous season’s champions, Thika Queens.
Vihiga Queens captain Merceline Wayodi attributed their success to their unwavering teamwork, determination, and focus. “As a team, we’ve experienced victories and defeats. We never panicked and stayed focused on our own journey.”
She further acknowledged the challenging yet incredible nature of the season, expressing her appreciation for all the participating teams that presented formidable challenges.
Vihiga Queens will now set their sights on the 2023 CEACAFA Zonal CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers to be held in Uganda. This prestigious opportunity allows them to compete for a chance to secure their ticket to the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
“Our sights are firmly set on CECAFA. We are determined to strengthen our squad with top-quality players to enhance our competitiveness on both the international stage and in the league next season,” stated Coach Boniface Nyamu.
The trophy ceremony draws near as they are set to be officially crowned champions on May 27th, 2023.
