Defending champions, Tusker FC, have established a reputation for their success in winning titles. This season, they find themselves in a favorable position to achieve a league and cup double.

The brewers are currently sitting in second place in the league table, only two points behind leaders Gor Mahia, also have an upcoming final in the MozzartBet Cup.

In the recent round 33 of matches, Gor Mahia reclaimed the top spot from Tusker with a 2-0 victory against Ulinzi Stars while, Tusker suffered a minor setback, losing 2-1 to Wazito in Muhoroni.

Despite this setback, the team remains confident and fully prepared to tackle the challenge of the title chase.

Coach Matano expressed his satisfaction with the team’s progress, stating, “Players have realized the need to restore their image. They have displayed strength, and I’ve witnessed improvements in their training sessions. The true Tusker spirit has resurfaced, and we are ready.”

As the season approaches its conclusion with only two games remaining, the battle for victory will heavily rely on mental strength and focus. Coach Matano understands this well and has been diligently preparing his team accordingly. He has emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on the ultimate prize, stating, “Mental strength and concentration are crucial. The players should not burden themselves with unnecessary pressure. They must stay composed, performing their duties as normal. As champions, we must rise to the occasion, remain focused, and show determination to retain our trophy. Although it won’t be easy, our sole focus is on defending the title.”

League leaders Gor Mahia will be confident in the run-up of their next premier league match coming off a crucial win. Round 33 is set to pit Gor Mahia against Kakamega Homeboyz in Kasarani Stadium as Tusker FC plays Posta Rangers at the Ruaraka Grounds on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
