2022/23 FKF Premier League Champions, Gor Mahia, are set to face off with the Mozzart Bet Cup winners, Kakamega Homeboyz, in the FKF Charity Shield Cup, scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the MISC Kasarani, at 3 pm.
As the official curtain raiser for the upcoming 2023/24 season, the FKF Charity Shield Cup provides both teams with an opportunity to kickstart their season by lifting the silverware.
In their previous encounters of the 2022/23 season, Gor Mahia secured a 1-0 victory against the Kakamega Homeboyz during their first-leg clash. However, Kakamega Homeboyz managed to outplay Gor Mahia with a stunning 1-0 win at the Bukhungu Stadium during the Mozzart Bet Cup, putting an end to Kogalo’s journey in the competition.
The rivalry between these two continued in the second leg of the league, with Kakamega Homeboyz delivering a heart-stopping performance to edge past Gor Mahia in a nail-biting 3-2 battle. Their tenacity nearly denied Gor Mahia the chance to lift the league title, leaving fans at the edge of their seats until the final day of the league.
The 2023/24 FKF Premier League season is set to commence on August 26, 2023, with eight action-packed matches lined up for the opening day. Among these fixtures, we have the exciting matchup between newcomers Shabana and Muranga Seal, both determined to make their mark in the league.
