Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania’s joint bid for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations has been accepted, following the Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) Executive Committee Meeting held today, Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in Cairo, Egypt.
The historic bid, presented to the CAF ExCo on Wednesday, marks the first time that the region shall host the tournament since Ethiopia last hosted it in 1976.
Speaking on the milestone, FKF President Nick Mwendwa reiterated that the successful bid was just the first step in a journey of a thousand miles.
“We have convinced our colleagues at CAF that East Africa can do this. Now the work begins. Everyone has to pull together to ensure that we deliver a successful tournament,” said the FKF President.
