Rising Starlets delivered a commanding performance in their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup first-leg qualifier played on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Nyayo Stadium, securing a resounding 6-1 victory over Angola.

The game kicked off with Valerie Nekesa rapidly bagging two goals, immediately giving Rising Starlets the upper hand in the game. Nekesa continued her stellar performance, completing her hat-trick in the 21st minute.

Angola managed to pull one goal back just two minutes later. However, in the final minute before halftime, Charity Midewa expertly converted a well-placed free-kick, extending their lead to 4-1 as they headed into the break.

The second half saw Charity Midewa scoring her second goal of the match in the 57th minute. Faith Naliaka then sealed the victory by skillfully navigating the Angola defense and netting another goal in the 80th minute, bringing the final score to 6-1.

Up next for the team is the second-leg match against Angola. They will be traveling to Angola on Thursday, October 12, 2023, ahead of their match on Saturday, October 14, 2023.
