Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has emphasized the government’s support to the Kenya Women’s National Team, Harambee Starlets, as they prepare for the upcoming final round of the 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations two-legged  qualifier against Botswana

Speaking while he paid a courtesy call at the team’s training session at the Nyayo Stadium, the CS acknowledged the government’s key role in ensuring the success of all its national teams and committed to rallying behind the Harambee Starlets.

“The government has offered its full support to the team. We have also helped facilitate the release of Ulinzi Starlets midfielder Sheryl Angachi from the Kenya Defence Forces recruitment training,” said Sports CS Ababu Namwamba.

He further opined, “We will be looking forward to them putting on a good game tomorrow as they face Botswana, who are equally as tough and talented as our ladies.”

FKF President Nick Mwendwa, on his part, thanked the government for always being present and offering support to the national teams.

“I must say Asante sana to the CS for committing to support the Harambee Starlets and ensuring there is government support for all our national teams so that they prepare well and bear positive results,” said the FKF president.

Harambee Starlets play Botswana in the first leg on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Afterward, they play Botswana in the second leg away on December 5, 2023.
