Kenya National U-18 Boys team, Junior Stars, has today on Friday, December 8, 2023 finished second in the CECAFA U-18 championship following a 2-1 loss to Uganda U-18 at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium, Kisumu.
Initially, Syphas Owuor gave Kenya the lead with a goal in the 65th minute. However, Abasi Kyeyune managed to equalize in the 77th minute, pushing the game into extra time.
During the early stages of the first half of extra time, Uganda’s Hakimi Mutebi scored the decisive winning goal, clinching the championship title for Uganda.
Ibrahim Wanzala and Aldrine Kibet stood out in the tournament and received individual accolades for their exceptional performances. Wanzala was honored with the golden glove award, while Aldrine Kibet secured the golden boot by netting a total of 3 goals throughout the championship.
