Plateau Queens (Nyanza) and Barcelona Ladies (Central) have punched their tickets to the 4th edition of the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom finals.

Their journey to this decisive moment unfolded with victories against their opponents, that is, Plateau Queens triumphed over Brenda Girls (Western) with an impressive 5-1 victory, while Barcelona Ladies emerged victorious against Wiyeta Girls (Western) in a hard-fought 2-1 battle in the semi-finals played on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Mamboleo Stadium.

Finalists, Plateau Queens, have their sights set on defending their title, having been crowned champions in the previous edition of the tournament.

Their path to the finals has been marked by sheer grit, exemplified by their victory over Victoria Sports Academy during the Nyanza region finals, where they clinched a thrilling 4-3 win on post-match penalties after a tense 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Meanwhile, Barcelona Ladies have established themselves as formidable contenders, clinching the central region title for the third consecutive time. Their journey to the finals was paved with triumphs, including a victory over defending champions Limuru Starlets with a 2-1 scoreline at Thika Stadium.

These two powerhouse teams now prepare to collide in the finals on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

This tournament not only showcases the immense talent and passion for football across the country but also aligns with the key priorities of the Federation in promoting women’s and youth football.

As FKF President Nick Mwendwa aptly puts it, “This partnership with Safaricom not only elevates the game of football but also provides a platform to nurture the next generation of football stars, particularly among women and youth.”

The winning teams in the national finals will walk away with Ksh. 1 million in cash, while the runners-up and second runners-up will receive Ksh. 500,000 and Ksh. 250,000, respectively. Additionally, each player, both winners, runners-up, and second runners-up, will receive Neon Smartphones, the first locally assembled 4G smartphone in Kenya. Outstanding players, including the Best Goalkeeper, Top Scorer, and Most Valuable Player (boys and girls), will each get Kshs 50,000.
